Landek is a storied hill woven with countless haunting legends – like the one about the Landek treasure that is guarded by a lady in black on a black horse; or the one about how a reprobate daughter of a Landek lord was transformed into a wild boar; or the one about the white dog holding a key in his muzzle. Landek is located above the confluence of the Odra and Ostravice rivers, and is famous worldwide primarily in terms of geology, archaeology, the natural sciences, and mining. The Mining Museum houses a wide variety of mining machinery, and the expansive exhibit on mining rescue operations is definitely worth a visit as well. And you should certainly not miss out on a tour of the mines.
