Two new face, Monika and Michaela, join Brian and Garrett to guide them to Lednice and Valtice, neighboring royal residences previously owned by the Lichtenstein family. Brian gets a glimpse of historic life with a guided tour inside the richly colored walls of the chateau and its manicured gardens.
Lunch includes another Czech delicacy, beef cheeks braised in beer. A full stomach is essential before heading to Valtice Chateau, which holds the National Wine Center in addition to gorgeous grounds and architecture to rival Lednice.
There is a reason Brian describes this route as “a history buff’s dream come true”. Monika and Michaela point out several monuments lining the paths. One stop, the gorgeous columned archway of Kolonáda na Reistně, offers a view of the entire Lednice-Valtice complex.
This route is perfect for a sophisticated cycling trip with two stunning chateaus in close proximity. Next up, the guys trade wine country for the Moravian capital city of Brno.
