In just a single day you can visit three of the gems of Posázaví. Begin your journey in the picturesque town of Ledeč nad Sázavou. Tour the historical centre and the castle with its Baroque park, which towers majestically atop a limestone crag above the Sázava River. You can then stop in Světlá nad Sázavou, and visit the stunning château and the medieval underground there. The route then leads through the Stvořidla Nature Reserve. Here, in the deep valley, the Sázava River formed a boulder-strewn riverbed which has been a boaters’ paradise for ages. Hundreds of boulders, which were carved into their smooth shapes by the wild water tumbling its way between the cliffs, are scattered not only across the river, but along the surrounding banks as well. According to legend, these boulders were strewn here by a devil who sought revenge on a deceitful farmer. At the end you can visit one of the country’s most massive castles: Lipnice nad Sázavou, which is built on an extremely rocky hillock and towers high above the surrounding terrain. Jaroslav Hašek experienced the last years of his life in the house beneath the castle.
