A boating trip along the Sázava River, which rises to the surface in the heart of Vysočina, above the Velké Dářko reservoir, will lead you from Světlá nad Sázavou through Stvořidla, all the way to Ledeč nad Sázavou. One of the greatest points of interest in Světlá nad Sázavou is the château, where you can visit several interesting exhibits, relax in a café, or tour the château park and medieval underground. The river flows through a forested, romantic landscape, with numerous meanders. On your way you will encounter six weirs, over which you can easily carry your boat if they are not navigable. Stvořidla, a Vysočina boating classic, also lies on this 15-kilometre long route. With its famous rapids, Stvořidla has earned the reputation of being the most beautiful section of the Sázava River, but also one that needs sufficient water levels in order to be navigable. Stvořidla is suitable primarily for experienced boaters who seek whitewater rapids. It is navigable most often in March and April, and in the summer after heavy rains. Hundreds of boulders are scattered not only across the river, but across the surrounding banks as well. According to legend, these boulders were strewn here by a devil who sought revenge on a deceitful farmer. In Ledeč nad Sázavou, you can admire the historical centre and its castle with a Baroque park, which towers atop a limestone crag above the Sázava River, ruling the countryside and the entire city.
